The day of ridges. You will walk from Mandara Hut for 12km to Horombo Hut at 12334ft. out of the rainforest into Marshy Meadows, Lobelia and the rugged Moors, strange flowers heather bushes and thin penetrating rain. The ridges come one after another. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
To Kibo hut, Today you will climb through the saddle for 3miles. The walking is slow and cold because of the high altitude. Here the track divides going to Kibo and Mawenzi. There is no easy way to get to mawenzi. Overnight at Kibo hut.
At night around 2:00a.m., you wake up to make the final ascent to Gilmans point at 18655ft, on the rim of the crater to Uhuru Peak at 19342ft. The Uhuru Peak is the highest in Africa at 5895m above sea level. It takes an hour from Gilmans Point to Uhuru Peak. Descend to Horombo for overnight .
The last day of your climb. Descend to marangu Gate.
